Architectural Video Projection using
Pandoras Box by Coolux

The small town of Zacatecas, Mexico is located 560 kilometres from Mexico City. The colonial center, founded by the Spaniards in 1546, Zacatecas is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Zacetacas features elaborately decorated buildings, palaces, mansions, cobblestone streets with wrought-iron lanterns and colonial city water fountains. Winding through the narrow, crooked streets to the city's heart you will find yourself in the Plaza de Armas, home of the former San Agustin church, an elaborately carved red-stone structure that was built between 1730 and 1760.

San Agustin church has become the centre of the a unique audio visual architectural project incorporating Pandoras Box by Coolux. Every Saturday night at 9pm, the facade of the church is illuminated with 6 Christie Digital DS+10K-M 3 chip DLP projectors, with a projection distance of approximately 70ft away, the projectors are placed within Tempest Lighting Cyclone all weather housings. The projectors are horizontally and vertically edge blended to completely cover the full facade of the church using Pandoras Box. Three Pandoras Box Media Servers by Coolux were programmed to run all the video content to the projectors as well as the audio track and the DMX control of the exterior architectural lighting. The show was designed to run every weekend with the touch of a single button.

System control commands from the Pandoras Box turned on all of the required hardware and readied the show for playback.Producer 333 Luxes S.A. de C.V. of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico asked Montreal, Quebec-based Proluxon for Technical and Artistic Direction. Andre Lantin of Realisations Inc. and Valy Tremblay of Proluxon were Artistic Directors' and content providers. Both provided over 18 months researching and designing the project. Programming of Pandoras Box was started by David Lavallee of Proluxon and completed by Jason Riordan of Multimedia Staging (www.multistaging.com). The project was visually stunning and took the viewer through the city's long, and at times, turbulent history.

The video also brought to life on a grand scale the changes to the exterior of the church over time from the mid 1800's. Simple and efficient operation through the use of Pandoras Box was keyto the local government officials who operate the show weekly.
